Lab Assistant/Application Specialist

Machine Operation & Maintenance:

  • Learn and operate key lab equipment like Spray Machines, Roller Coaters, Curtain Coater, Robots, Curing Ovens, and Sanders.

  • Modify and prepare machines for customer or salesman-specific requests, ensuring machines are ready one day prior to tests or demos.

  • Document all test results—successful and unsuccessful—to improve lab processes.

Lab Cleaning & Organization:

  • Post-Demo Cleaning: Thoroughly clean and maintain equipment after customer demonstrations, including changing filters, cleaning belts/rollers, and wiping windows.

  • Lab Cleanliness: Regular cleaning duties, including sweeping and general lab maintenance (Zamboni duties).

Customer Support & Travel:

  • Customer Visits: Occasionally visit customer sites to assist with equipment setup and training, ensuring machines perform as tested in the lab.

  • Provide training on the operation of installed Application Equipment to achieve results aligned with lab trials.

  • Participate in periodic training visits to ensure customer success.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Solvent Management: Assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning solvent levels, and reorder supplies when needed.

  • Ensure proper disposal of spent solvents, rags, and filters in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.

  • SDS & Compliance: Maintain SDS sheets, track solvents from cradle to grave, and ensure all EPA regulatory compliance documentation is up-to-date.

Trade Shows & Demonstrations:

  • Show Preparation: Set up and operate machines at trade shows, coordinating with the Lab Manager on product selection and preparing all necessary paperwork.

  • Show Operations: Run live demonstrations during trade shows to showcase the capabilities of our equipment.

  • Post-Show Duties: Disassemble equipment after the show and reassemble it back in the lab.

Hardware Assembly:

  • PUMP/Gun Packages: Mount pumps, guns, tubing, fittings, manifolds, and color stacks to create hardware packages for customer orders.

  • Load and ship machines using a forklift or pallet jack to ensure timely deliveries.

Forklift Operations (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Operate a forklift to retrieve parts and supplies from racks as needed.

  • Assist in unloading machinery shipments and help with loading machines for customer deliveries.

  • Eagerness to Learn: While prior lab experience is helpful, a strong desire to learn and develop new skills is key!

  • Technical Aptitude: A basic understanding of mechanical systems and interest in machinery operation will be an asset.

  • Punctual: Starting each day off on the right foot, ready to assist customers.

  • Working with Chemicals: Chemical or finishing knowledge is preferred but not required.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: The ability to use tools to assemble machinery.
